#2024WAFCON: Black Queens face Tanzania today

Date:

Ghana’s Black Queens face a critical test today as they take on Tanzania in a must-win clash in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) group stage.

With just one point from two games—a 2-0 loss to South Africa and a 1-1 draw with Mali—Ghana must win at the Berkane Municipal Stadium to keep their quarterfinal hopes alive. A draw or defeat would almost certainly see them exit the tournament.

Despite a shaky start, the Queens have shown promise. Doris Boaduwaa and Chantelle Hlorhkah have been dangerous up front, while Alice Kusi and Grace Asantewaa offer stability and experience in midfield. Head coach Kim Bjorkegren has also shown tactical adaptability with his substitutions.

Tanzania, also desperate for a win, bring pace, intensity, and determination to the pitch. They are a team with everything to fight for and cannot be underestimated.

Still, Ghana will draw confidence from their quality, experience, and stronger historical record in the competition.

This match is about more than just three points—it’s about national pride, redemption, and the chance to keep WAFCON dreams alive.
