You can feel like a Ghanaian after World Cup— Agyeman Badu

Date:

Former FIFA U-20 World Cup winner Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu has waded into the never-ending argument of the inclusion of some foreign-born players in the Black Stars.

The FIFA World Cup is a stage where qualified countries give the best they have, vying for the ultimate prize, the trophy, made of 18-karat gold with bands of malachite on its base.

Reports became rife of certain foreign-born players being eligible to play for the Black Stars of Ghana after the team secured its place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in 2025.

Agyeman-Badu asserted on Max FM’s Sports Pack that the players who remained loyal and committed to the cause through thick and thin must be maintained.

He further stated that the players who rejected the team in time of need, claiming not to be “feeling Ghanaian,” can be invited should they feel different after the World Cup.

“I don’t want to listen to what people say. Whether it works or not, I don’t have a problem. I know when the coach [Otto Addo] approached some of the players, they claimed not to be feeling Ghanaian. If that is so, then they shouldn’t feel Ghanaian, but rather after the World Cup.”
