The dispute surrounding the burial service of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh has taken a dramatic turn as the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, failed to meet the head of the royal Ekuona family to receive the funeral invitation.
Otumfuo is believed to have attended to an urgent matter involving his linguist’s wife; therefore, he did not meet the Ekuona Family members to officially accept the invitation to Daddy Lumba’s funeral.
This was revealed during a phone interview with the Interim Chairman of the Ashanti New Media Association, Busumuru Sean Kingston, on the Max Morning Show on Tuesday.
According to him, Abusuapanyin Victor Kofi Owusu, known as Tupac, on Monday went to the Manhyia Palace to officially invite the King of the Asanteman to attend the funeral of Daddy Lumba slated for Saturday, December 13, 2025, but met the king’s absence.
“As the Abusuapanyin made an appearance at Manhyia, the feuding side of the family, Ernestina Fosuh, also called Akosua Brimpomaa, and direct uncle Wofa Yaw Opoku, Mama China, his maternal grandaunt, and others equally made an appearance at the palace,” he said.
The faction argued that Abusuapanyin Tupac had been organising their late relative’s funeral without their involvement and also accused him of withdrawing funds from the late singer’s memorial account without their consent; thus, they sought a legal injunction on the funeral.
“The feuding faction went to Manhyia in a bid to voice out their grievances, but both feuding parties never met the king,” he said.
Sean Kingston stated that the families were therefore told to return on Thursday, December 11, as it was the day the king would return to the palace.
“The postponement met the joy of Ernestina Fosuh and her team, while Abusuapanyin’s camp was displeased. However, Abusuapanyin claimed Nanaanom had already given their consent to carry on with the funeral of the late legend,” he added.
