Laryea Kingston, coach of the Black Starlets, eagerly awaits the commencement of the 2024 WAFU Zone B U-17 tournament with all matches live on MAX TV. This event serves as a pathway to qualification for the U-17 AFCON, offering teams the chance to secure FIFA U-17 spots.
Scheduled to take place in Ghana from May 15, the tournament will feature Ghana’s U-17 team, drawn in Group A, squaring off against neighboring Côte d’Ivoire in the opening match, followed by a match against Benin.
Kingston, brimming with confidence and excitement ahead of the tournament, emphasized the readiness of his players.
“The players are at a good level now, and all they need is motivation ahead of the tournament,” he conveyed to Joy Sports.
“With a record of 14 games played, 46 goals scored, and only 12 conceded, we’ve been defeated just once, by Russia. I have full faith in the boys, and I am eagerly anticipating the competition,” he added.
Drawing from his experience as part of Ghana’s U-17 team that reached the World Cup final against Brazil in 1997, Kingston aims to replicate that success with the current group of players.
