Ghana’s Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) rival South Africa, has left their star striker out of the squad for the tournament.
Thembi Kgatlana was left out by Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis. The South African Football Association, in a statement, cited “personal reasons” for her exclusion.
Hilda Magaia will join the Banyana Banyana camp late due to her medical assessment ahead of the final squad announcement on June 23.
Ghana is drawn in Group B alongside Mali, Tanzania, and Ghana. The tournament (WAFCON) runs from 5 to 26 July.
