Yussif Basigi’s brilliant Black Princesses delivered an impressive 3-1 victory over the Ivory Coast in their final Group A game in the WAFU U-20 Girls Cup at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Faith Ladies’ striker Maafia Nyame continued with her rich vein of form as she gave Ghana the lead with a well headed goal from a Stella Nyamekye corner kick in the 14th minute of the first half.
Captain of Dreamz Ladies and the Black Princesses’ Stella Nyamekye got her second goal of the tournament 6 minutes later as Maafia Nyame turned provider this time around to double Ghana’s lead.
Faiza Seidu missed the chance to extend Ghana’s lead in the 51st minute before Deperou Digbeu pulled one back for the Ivorians. Maafia Nyame finally got her brace of the game as she restored Ghana’s two goal lead to ensure her side leave with all three points, and qualify for the semi-finals.
