South Africa will battle Nigeria in the semi-finals of the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The tournament, currently underway in Egypt, kicked off on April 27 and is set to wrap up on May 18.
Monday, May 12, saw all four quarter-final matches played, delivering high-stakes action and drama.
In one of the day’s most intense clashes, Nigeria faced off against defending champions Senegal. The match lived up to expectations, but after a goalless draw through regular time and extra time, Nigeria emerged victorious with a 3-1 win in the penalty shootout.
That result earned the Flying Eagles a place in the semi-finals, where they will face a determined South African side.
South Africa booked their semi-final spot by edging DR Congo 1-0 after extra time in their own quarter-final fixture.
Both teams will now prepare for a high-stakes encounter as they chase a spot in the final of the U20 AFCON 2025.
