Contemporary Highlife musician Gladstorm Akwaboah Jnr. has acknowledged the church influence that has made him excel in his musical career.
According to him, it is the sole reason he has never abandoned church, even as a celebrated musician.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Max Drive in Accra on Tuesday, the “Obiaa” hitmaker said his role as a keyboardist connected him to many affluent people, and he joined Ophelia Nyantakyi’s band, Amandzeba Nat Brew, and Becca’s band.
“That’s why I never miss my Tuesdays and Thursdays church rehearsals unless I have a gig. For the gig, that is where I get the money to pay off my tithes and collections,” he said.
Akwaboah emphasised the need for musicians not to feel big if the church played a key role in their fame.
“I never wanted to feel too big to help in church activities because the church brought me this far, and I acknowledge that,” he added.
