Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, Fred Acheampong, is calling for support for the GFA president, Kurt Okraku’s bid for a place on the Executive Council of the CAF.
Kurt Okraku is set to contest with representatives of other member associations for a spot on the Executive Council of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), being the only representative from West Africa.
Fred Acheampong reckoned a victory for the GFA president would be beneficial for Ghanaian football, thus calling for support because the country is lacking in that level in African football governance.
“If he should win, it will be good for Ghanaian football because whatever is implemented is first discussed at the executive level, so we would be aware of what is ahead and all the benefits that come with it.
So I think it is positive to put Ghana’s name on the map. Let’s support him to win,” Acheampong said on the Sports Pack show on Max FM.
The elections are scheduled in March 2025 at the 14th Extraordinary General Assembly at the Marriot Hotel Mena House in Cairo, Egypt.
