Augustine Egauvoen has been named interim coach of the Super Eagles by the Nigerian Football Federation.
The former Nigerian international takes over from Jose Peseiro, who managed to lead the Super Eagles to the final of the 2023 AFCON, losing to Ivory Coast.
This would be Egauvoen’s second time taking the reigns of the senior national team of Nigeria. He took over in 2021 following the departure of Gernot Rohr.
While leading the team in 2021, he lost out on qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Ghana in Abuja.
