The Philadelphia Eagles stunningly crushed the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl 59 Sunday, claiming their second-ever Lombardi Trophy and ending their opponents’ hopes of a third straight title.
Patrick Mahomes put up one of the worst performances of his career, while Jalen Hurts had an iffy start but got into rhythm and didn’t look back en route to winning Super Bowl MVP.
It was the largest margin of victory for a team in the big game since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl 55.
With the win, the Eagles joined the New England Patriots and the Chiefs as the only NFL franchises with multiple Super Bowl wins in the past 15 years.
Philadelphia won its first Super Bowl seven years ago, a 41-33 victory over New England in Super Bowl 52.
