Lagos State Cancels 2025 Fiesta for Prayers

Date:

In Nigeria, the Lagos State Government has cancelled the 2025 edition of the Greater Lagos Fiesta for prayers.

The annual event, which aims at promoting Nigerian tourism, art, and culture, was scheduled to come off on December 31, 2025.

The residents of Lagos State have instead been directed to observe the period with prayers for the state and the nation.

The cancellation was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, following the approval of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“Spend quality time in personal prayers for the nation, the state and the people of Lagos,”

a portion of the statement read.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also urged residents to pray for continued prosperity, leadership, peace, productivity and continued general wellbeing.
