The budding Ga-Dangme musician, Kweku Shai has reiterated the need for record labels to sign young musicians spelling out the consequences before being part of the label.
According to him, that will be the surest way to bind the two parties in order for none to break his or her part of the contract.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Max TV’s e-Quick show in Accra on Wednesday, Kweku Shai stated that swearing under an oath before being signed to Icetee Records was the best thing that ever happened to him.
He refuted claims that he was desperate to accept a record deal that came with oath accompanied with curses once he broke the rule.
”If you say I am desperate, that is one part. I know I have the craft and talent and if you want to collaborate with me to sell that thing, I know my worth so I don’t accept any price,” Kweku Shai said.
He maintained that his beliefs were in line with Mzbel and the Chief Executive Officer of Icetee, hence their traditional mode of sealing their contract.
Kweku Shai further explained that the oath did not bind only him but the record label as well.
”I am also protected by the oath as the record label owner also swore his part to fulfill his end of the bargain,” he added.
