Popular Jamaican Dancehall star, Vybz Kartel has vowed not to bleach his skin again and will also minimize lifestyles that will put his health at risk.
According to him, his past decision to bleach his skin was to showcase his tattoos which he said is of no use anymore.
Speaking in a recent media interview, Kartel indicated that sometimes bleaching the skin is sparked by a black man’s mentality to look attractive.
“I mean, in hindsight it definitely had to do with self-love, but on the other hand, while I was doing it, my mind wasn’t telling me that.”
”My mind was telling me, ‘I am doing this to show my tattoos’… I got a lot of tattoos. But looking back, it was just as a Black man, sometimes we have those issues. But I would never bleach again though,” he said.
Kartel further stated that he has reduced his alcohol intake and smoking habits in his bid to focus on building a future with his fiancée, Sidem Öztürk.
He said after 13 years imprisonment, he had to focus on what would revive his life and make the world a better place for him.
Kartel also shared that he was still suffering with Graves Disease – an autoimmune condition where an immune system produces antibodies that cause the thyroid to produce too much thyroid hormone.
“Sometimes it makes my eyes puffy and initially I used to lose a lot of weight too because it makes you sweat,” he added.
