Speaker Saddened and Shocked By GAF Recruits Death

Date:

Rt Hon. Alban Sumanu Bagbin has expressed deep sadness over the unfortunate deaths of six potential recruits for the Ghana Armed Forces.

The Speaker of Parliament paid a visit to the others at the 37 Military Hospital, who sustained injuries, while the six others died.

The six dead potential recruits, who joined thousands of others seeking employment opportunities at the Ghana Armed Forces, have all been confirmed to be females.

Speaking to journalists at the hospital, Rt Hon. Bagbin called for an overhaul of employment processes in the public sector but was saddened by the whole encounter.

“We can rethink this whole process of recruitment and enlistment, even the entire system of how we employ people into the public sector, to prevent future occurrences,” he said.

“We are saddened and shocked. This is a day no Ghanaian would ever wish to see repeated. But we must all work together—this is not the responsibility of one person or institution alone.

Our focus should be on preventing similar tragedies and, more immediately, on saving the lives of those who are injured,” he added.
