Slavko Matic: We played well but one point is not what we need

Date:

Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Slavko Matic expressed dissatisfaction with the scoreless draw obtained against Karela United. The coach remarked that his players did well against Karela United despite the scoreless draw.

The defending FA Cup champions, who have improved throughout the season under new manager Slavko Matic, were held to a thrilling 0-0 draw on Sunday.

Both teams had plenty of chances to score during the game, but neither one was able to do so.

Hearts of Oak expected to win following two straight victories over Bibiani Goldstars and Kotoku Royals, but Karela United turned out to be the superior team.

Both sides had won their previous league matches into the highly anticipated match.

On matchday 6, Hearts of Oak defeated Kotoku Royals 1-0 away from home while Karela United edged Bechem United by a slim margin.

Currently, Slavko Matic’s team is in 10th place in the league standings with 9 points, while Karela United is in seventh place with 10 points.

Slavko Matic told reporters following the game:

“I am happy how my players played in the game against Karela. Their attitude, responsibility and the will to succeed showed in the game. We did not get the desired result though, but we played better. We will continue to work for the next game,”

For the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Ghana Premier League (GPL) will have a one-month hiatus.

After the largest soccer World Cup in an Arab nation, the league is anticipated to rebound.
