Sacrifice free education, high expenditure for Anti-LGBTQ+ bill – Dr. Evans Nunoo

Date:

Economist Dr. Evans Nunoo advised Ghanaians to be ready to reduce expenditure if they want the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, to sign the LGTBQ+ bill.

According to Evans Nunoo, Ghana’s economy solely depends on foreign investors to survive as a country.

On February 28, 2024, the parliament of Ghana passed the controversial anti-homosexuality (LGBTQ+) bill, which has been in the parliament of Ghana since 2021.

The bill, which was introduced in parliament in 2LGBTQ, criminalizes not only LGBTQ relationships but also those who support LGBTQ rights.

Dr. Evans Nunoo added that the bill does not have a direct effect on the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) support but would have an indirect influence on investors who do not criminalize LGBTQ in their.

“African countries like Rwanda and Zambia, which have criminalized LGBTQ, have minimized their expenditures. So Ghanaians should be ready to sacrifice free things that the government is paying for, such as free education and high expenditure on government officials,” he stated to max.com.gh.

However, he advised President Akufo-Addo to make the right decision that would help the people of Ghana and their culture.
