Football gets beautiful as relegated Faith Ladies beat Jonina Ladies to win the 2024-25 Women’s FA Cup.
Faith Ladies, having endured a torrid season in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, made it to the final of the Women’s after upsetting Hasaacas Ladies 1-0 in the semi-final.
The Dansoman-based ladies came out on top under a heavy and cold downpour at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, May 18, as Erica Apreku’s extra-time double sealed the win.
Joyce Atimbila gave Jonina Ladies, who were considered favourites to win, in the first minute of the first half of extra-time, but Erica Apreku equalized for Faith Ladies a couple of minutes later.
After a brief pause to the game when the rains got heavier, Apreku scored with a header in the second half of extra-time to stun Jonina Ladies, as Faith Ladies emerged champions of the Women’s FA Cup.
