In their Group C opener on Sunday at Pierre-Mauroy Stadium, close to Lille in northern France, Team USA defeated Serbia 118-84 to start their Paris 2024 campaign.
Kevin Durant of Team USA, making his comeback from injury, led the scoring with 23 points on 8 of 9 field goals. Nikola Jokic of Serbia scored twenty points for the losing side.
As the first team in the competition to score more than 100 points, the Americans are now leading Group C with two points.
On July 31, they play South Sudan. On the same day, Serbia will play Puerto Rico.
