Italian female boxer Angela Carini bowed out of her opening bout of the Olympic women’s 66 kg bout with Imane Khelif of Algeria after just 46 seconds.
The Algerian was banned from competing at the 2023 World Championship for failing the International Boxing Association’s (IBA) testosterone and gender eligibility tests after competing in the Tokyo 2020 Games.
In a controversial build-up to the Games, Khelif was cleared by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to compete.

The Italian was in tears after her opponent was announced as the as the winner.
