The famed historian and lawyer Yaw Anokye Frimpong has urged His Royal Majesty Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, the Kwahuhene, to see to it that Okwawu United Sporting Club returns to its heyday.
Okwahu United are competing in Zone Three of the 2023–24 Access Bank Division One League following a stellar campaign in the 2023–23 Regional Division Two Middle League.
The Assaqse Aban are twice winners of the MTN FA Cup, winning in 1986 and 1994.
The Ghanaian traditional club has produced so many players that went on to become global stars, such as Anthony Yeboah, C.K. Akonnor, Yaw Acheampong, the current Black Stars goalkeeping coach, Fatau Dauda, Ntow, Gyan, Amankwa Mireku, Johnson Eklu, the current coach of Accra Great Olympics, Annor Walker, and others.
The club, currently led by Samuel Anim Addo as its chairman, finished as runners-up in the CAF Confederation Cup, formerly known as the African Cup Winners’ Cup, to Tunisian side CA Bizerte in 1988.
