NACOC Intercepts Toxic Substances Headed to Burkina Faso

Date:

Credible intelligence has led to the interception of the toxic substance sodium cyanide en route to Burkina Faso.

The operation was carried out by the Upper West Regional Command of the Narcotics Control Commission.

The said operation, according to NACOC, took place on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Kaleo in the Nadowli District of the Upper West Region.

Two Rhino trucks with registration numbers GS 5699-18 and GC 1871-11 were stopped by NACOC officers for a search to be conducted.

The search led to the uncovering of 58 cartons of foreign cigarettes, 182 cartons of illicit pharmaceutical drugs, and 40 drums of sodium cyanide.

The drivers and conductors of the vehicles are currently in the grips of the Upper West Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service.
