Max FM’s Morning Dew : Should Gospel Musicians accept awards for their songs?

Date:

Artist manager Nana Poku Ashes, believes gospel musicians do not need to be awarded or even nominated.

Speaking to Max FM on Tuesday, the celebrated entertainment industry mogul warned against gospel artists lobbying for awards because according to him, what they ‘represent(God) is holy’.

He explained further that vying for awards makes them desperate and advised them to let their work speak for them, quoting 1 Corinthians 10:23 from the Holy Bible. He quizzed in an interview with Abena Ruthy on MaxFM, “The gospel world feels they are in competition. Who are you competing against?”

Nana Poku Ashes revealed he voted for Diana Hamilton as she scooped four awards at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards when he was part of the academy because he believed in quality.
