Milovan Rajevac sacked by GFA following a meeting with the sports minister.

Date:

Milovan Rajevac, the head coach of Ghana’s Black Stars, has been fired by the Ghana Football Association(GFA) .

The dismissal of Milovan Rajevac came as a consequence of a meeting between the Ministry of Sports and the GFA following the team’s dismal performance in the current African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, albeit it was not formally announced by the FA.

According to details from the meeting on Friday, coach Milovan Rajevac and the whole management team of the Black Stars were fired by the Ministry on behalf of the government.

Although the FA officials objected to the ministry’s position, the Sports Ministry, led by Minister Mustapha Ussif, pushed on the termination.

At the present edition in Cameroon, Milovan Rajevac guided Ghana to one of its worst performances in the AFCON tournament.

The four-time AFCON winners only managed one point in Group C, which included Morocco, Gabon, and the Comoros.

Ghana was eliminated from the competition after losing to Morocco and debutants Comoros in the group stages.

A statement from the Ghana Football Association announcing the sacking is set to be released by midday.
