#MaxNews: Parliament to vet new ministers

The newly appointed ministers and deputies by President Nana Akuffo Addo are to appear before the Appointment Committee of Parliament for vetting on March 5, 2024.

The nominees include Dr. Benard Okoe-Boye, who was both the former deputy minister of health and the chief executive officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). He takes over from Kwaku Agyeman-Manu as the Minister of Health.

Also, Ophelia Mensah Hayford, a member of the New Patriotic Party and the MP for Mfanstseman (Central Region), replaces Dr. Kwaku Afriyie as the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Fatimatu Abubakar, who was the former Deputy Minister of Information, also replaces Kojo Oppoong Nkrumah, her boss, as the Minister of Information. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is the Minister of Works and Housing, and Dakoa Newman is the Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

Lydia Seyram Alhassan, also a newcomer and NPP MP for Ayawaso West Wuguon, previously the first deputy majority chief whip, is now nominated for the ministry of sanitation and water resources. Additionally, a former deputy minister of local government, decentralization, and rural development has been nominated as substantive minister of the sports portfolio, Martin Adjei-Menah Korsah, who is also a NPP MP for South Techiman.

Andrew Egyapa Mercer, NPP MP, has also been elevated from being the minister of energy to the minister of tourism, arts, and culture. Henry Quartey has been reallocated as the MInister for the Inferior. Titus Glover, who was the deputy minister of transport, has been nominated as the minister of greater Accra.
