#MaxNews: 20-year-old Nigerian found guilty for water meter theft

Date:

The Ghana Police Service detained Abdul Abubakari Sadiq, a 20-year-old Nigerian, in the Accra West Region, and he was subsequently found guilty of stealing water meters.

The culprit was apprehended by a resident of Kasoa Amanfrom Toptown on February 23, 2024.

Weija Circuit Court found Sadiq guilty after he acknowledged intentionally breaking GWL’s water meter.

Judge James Kojo Botah, who presided over the court hearings on February 27, 2024, leveled two charges against Sadiq.

He stated he was innocent of the second accusation of theft even though the water meter was discovered in his backpack after admitting guilt for willfully harming the GWL’s public property.

The judge ordered him to return to court on April 11, 2024, for a hearing on the second count of his charges. He was also given the option of paying a GHS 2,400 fine or serving a six-month jail sentence.
