MAX ENTERTAINMENT: I need to experience dreadful things for inspiration – Amy Newman

Date:

Veteran gospel chanteuse Amy Newman says whenever she has to come out with an inspirational soul-winning song, she has to pass through something dreadful.

She observed that her weird experiences were a channel God used to inspire her songwriting and win souls for him.

Speaking in an interview with Max Morning Agenda in Accra on Friday, Amy Newman indicated that she hardly visits the studios but goes whenever she is inspired to do so.

She said that even after writing a song, she waits for God to talk to her before hitting the studios to record.

“I even have a song that God gave to me for the past 30 years: ‘Hold on to your faith.’ As of now, I have not released this song. I am now planning to release it, so when God inspires you to write, sometimes you have to wait for the season that’s fit for the song,” Amy Newman added.

In winning souls to God through music, she advised colleagues to wait for the signal of God before rushing to the studios to record.

“You have to sit and wait. The atmosphere itself will change with the spirit; you will have the urge. You will be impatient, like something had to be done, and that is what happens to me,” Amy Newman said.

Currently, the Okamafo hitmaker noted that she was feeling that urge to hit the studios to record the songs that God inspired her to write when she stayed inside her room four years ago.

Amy Newman started her music career in 1994 and has since won admiration for many songs such as ‘Onu Na Obeye,’ ‘My Redeemer,’ ‘My Jesus,’ ‘Ateasefo,’ ‘Adom,’ and ‘Ma Metsi Biara.’

Amy Newman is currently out with two new songs, ‘Makoma Ahye Ma and Ma Me Nka,’ and has urged fans and music lovers to stream them on all digital platforms.
