Man Seeks Community Help to Return Wife’s Body to Ghana

Date:

A Ghanaian man residing in Northern Kentucky is seeking the help of the community to return his late wife’s remains to Ghana.

Edith Obeng, 53, was killed after being hit by a car on Turfway Road in Florence just before 8 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025.

Clement Essilfie, husband of the late Obeng, began to get anxious after not being able to reach her. He was overcome with grief after receiving news of her demise.

“‘Your wife was involved in an accident, but she couldn’t make it.’ I broke down. I was wailing like a baby,” he said.

Considering the hefty cost of bringing Obeng home to face Clement, a friend of his opened a GoFundMe to help return Obeng to her homeland for burial.

According to police, the driver involved in the crash did not sustain any injuries and cooperated with investigators at the scene.
