Marseille are in talks with England international Angel Gomes over a free transfer.
The midfielder is a free agent after leaving Lille in the summer and had attracted serious interest from Premier League clubs.
But the 24-year-old is in discussions with rival Ligue 1 side Marseille in a transfer that would see Gomes stay in France.
Discussions are said to be progressing very positively amid hope Marseille can seal his transfer in the coming days.
Gomes broke into the England set-up at the start of last season under interim head coach Lee Carsley, but is yet to feature under Thomas Tuchel.
Tottenham and West Ham were the clubs linked with Gomes but Marseille are now pressing ahead with their interest.
