Kumasi-based giants Asante Kotoko are set to pay $16,000 in termination compensation to Prosper Narteh Ogum following his confirmed departure from the club. The Ogum termination compensation deal comes after a turbulent end to his second stint with the Porcupine Warriors.
Ogum, who returned to Kotoko in July 2023, experienced a mixed run in the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League. While the team faltered in recent league matches, he successfully guided them to the semifinals of the MTN FA Cup.
His exit was confirmed after Kotoko’s 2-0 defeat to Nations FC on Sunday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, which extended their winless run to four matches. The result left Kotoko fourth on the table with 47 points, fueling growing pressure on the technical team.
Despite the premature end to his tenure, the club has agreed to compensate him with a $16,000 severance package, signaling an amicable resolution to the coaching relationship.
In a swift response to his departure, reports indicate that Abdul Karim Zito is poised to take over the helm. Zito is expected to lead the Reds in a critical Matchday 29 clash against Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, as the club looks to return to winning ways.
The coaching transition marks another chapter in Kotoko’s dynamic season, with hopes now pinned on Zito to steady the ship and push for a strong finish.
