Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have announced the appointment of club icon Malik Jabir as their new technical director, succeeding James Kwesi Appiah.
Jabir, a celebrated figure in Kotoko’s rich history and a two-time CAF Champions League winner with the club, steps into the role to oversee the club’s technical operations. The move is part of a strategic restructuring by the Porcupine Warriors, as they aim to reclaim dominance in Ghanaian football.
The announcement was made on Wednesday through an official club statement:
“We are thrilled to announce the appointment of club legend and two-time CAF Champions League winner, Malik Jabir, as the new technical director for the club. Coach James Kwesi Appiah, who recently held the position, will remain as a member of the club’s management team. Welcome, Malik!”
James Kwesi Appiah, who had held the position since August 2023, will continue contributing to the club as part of the Interim Management Committee. Appiah, also serving as head coach of the Sudan national team, played a pivotal role in enhancing Kotoko’s technical structure, including recommending Sudanese players to the squad during his tenure.
Jabir’s appointment marks a new chapter for Asante Kotoko as they leverage his deep-rooted knowledge of the club and experience in African football to build a stronger team for domestic and continental competitions.
