Kotoko come from behind to beat Hearts for President’s cup

Date:

Asante Kotoko came from behind to beat Accra Hearts of Oak for the 2025 President’s Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors stunned the Phobians at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, July 6, 2025, for their record ninth time winning the trophy.

Hamza Issah gave a spirited Hearts team a first-half lead courtesy of an error by Kotoko’s Guinean goalkeeper, Mohammed Camara.

Kotoko returned to the second half fighting and surprisingly scored twice in the space of three minutes through goals from Peter Amidu and Kwame Opoku.

Emmanuel Amankwah missed a penalty in the dying embers of the game to bring Hearts level after their goal was disallowed minutes earlier.

Despite the win, Kotoko must ensure they improve their performances ahead of the qualification matches for the 2025/26 CAF Confederations Cup.
