Renowned singer, Kofi Kinaata has received the “Youth in Entertainment Award” at a special ceremony held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Friday, May 9, 2025.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who honored the Fante rapper turned singer celebrated him for his significant contributions to national development through music.
Kofi Kinaata’s music is believed to serve as an inspiration to the youth, hence the honor to propel him in influencing the youth positively.
It could be recalled that Osei Tutu II had cited Kinaata’s hit song “Susuka” as a song “full of wisdom” during the General Conference of the Ghana Bar Association in September 2024.
The Asantehene has made a conscious effort in setting an agenda for musicians to impact positively with their music rather than the unpalatable lyrics which had been destroying the lifestyle of youth.
His honor to the “Effiakuma Love” hitmaker formed part of his “Otumfuo Millennium Excellence Awards,” an initiative of the Manhyia Palace to celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to national development across various sectors.
The awards particularly spotlight those whose work supports the underprivileged, including the poor, widows, and orphans.
