Dr. Randy Abbey, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has been appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
The appointment, made by President John Dramani Mahama, was confirmed in a letter dated January 21 and signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President.
The letter stated: “His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 12(2) of the Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 1984 (P.N.D.C.L 81), has appointed you as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board, pending receipt of the Constitutionally required advice of the Board of Ghana Cocoa Board, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”
Dr. Abbey’s appointment is effective immediately, as specified in the correspondence.
This follows his recent appointment as Chairman of the Black Stars management committee by the GFA.
With his wealth of experience and leadership expertise, Dr. Abbey is expected to guide COCOBOD’s operations effectively during his tenure.
