Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahçe SK are in pole position of completing the acquisition of Ghana centre-back Alexander Djiku in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old will be joining the Turkish top-tier club on a free transfer following his decision not to extend his contract at French side RC Strasbourg.
Djiku kicked against a contract extension talks with RC Strasbourg after his three-year deal with the club had ran out at the end of the 2022/23 season’s campaign.
A host of clubs across Europe including Nottingham Forest, Villarreal and VfB Stuttgart have been shooting admiring glances at the hard-tackling guardsman in their bid to lure him.
It’s understood that RC Strasbourg Alsace were hell-bent on keeping their captain and with the recent investment by BlueCo, owners of Chelsea Football Club, the 28-year-old could stay put at the Stade de la Meinau with a contract extension.
He made over 120 appearances for RC Strasbourg Alsace since joining them from SM Caen in 2019.
