Ghana’s Black Stars must embrace a winning mentality and foster a positive team environment to enhance their chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to Technical Advisor Winfried Schäfer.
In his first media interview, Schäfer emphasized the significance of confidence, motivation, and top-class facilities as Ghana prepares for the next round of World Cup qualifiers.
“We have to go into the next two matches with confidence, with a winning mentality. The players must feel that when they come here and return to their clubs, they are highly motivated and fit. No player should think, ‘Oh, now I have to go to Ghana, and the field is not good,’” he stated.
He stressed that high-quality facilities and a welcoming team atmosphere are crucial to keeping players happy and focused, ensuring top performance in crucial fixtures.
“The pitch must be good. The massage must be good. Everything must be at the highest level. That is the first thing we must do. The players must be happy when they come here. If we achieve that, we can take a big step toward the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. That is what we have to do.”
After a disappointing campaign in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Ghana is determined to redeem itself and secure a place in the global tournament. Strong performances in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers will be crucial to keeping the nation’s hopes alive
