Christian Atsu, a member of the Ghanaian Black Stars, lost his life in the February 6, 2023 earthquake in Turkey.
Since his passing, a number of athletes have expressed their respects to the former Newcastle star, with Asafa Powell, the fourth-fastest man in the world, being the most recent.
The sprinting champion offered the grieving family some words of comfort and promised to be there for them through this trying period.
The book of condolences for the late Ghanaian international, which has been opened, was also signed by Asafa Powell.
While the family gets ready to bury their loved one, members of the Ghana Olympic Committee, led by their president Ben Nunoo Mensah, also made a financial pledge to them.
