The immediate release of the Queen Mother of Kwahu, Nana Adwoa Gyemfua, has been ordered by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
Kwahuman was left in upheaval after certain uniformed officers of the Ghana Police Service stormed the royal palace to arrest Nana Adwoa Gyemfua around 4 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025.
The Kwahuhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, who was in Accra, drove to Kwahu upon hearing what had ensued, leading to his detention by the same officers, who were reportedly in the company of the disputed Chief, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II.
Following news of the disturbances, both the Nkwakwa and Kwahu Divisional Police Commands said they had no knowledge of the operation.
Security has since been intensified to keep the peace in Kwahu.
