Hearts of Oak: Aboubakar Ouattara reveals how Hearts survived

Date:

As Hearts of Oak attempted to stave off relegation, head coach Aboubakar Ouattara shared what he had informed his players prior to their match against Bechem United.

On the final league matchday, the Phobians, needing to win to remain in the league, pulled off a remarkable comeback to win 2-3 away.

After the game, coach Aboubakar Ouattar told StarTimes’ Nana Darkwa Gyasi that he had pushed the players to play goal-oriented football rather than possession football.

“I just told the boys to get me the goals, not possession football. Today you see three goals scored by defenders.”

The Ivorian coach was frank about his dissatisfaction with the team’s performance, particularly after he took over, even if they were able to escape the relegation struggle.

“To be frank, I am not happy because that is not Hearts of Oak position. We were separated by seven points at the start of the second round, but today we’ve struggled to survive, and it’s bad for us.”
