The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association has charged the technical staff of Ghana Premier League side, Real Tamale United.
Already-relegated Real Tamale United suffered a drabbing 8-1 defeat to Dreams FC in an outstanding game in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Dawu.
Matters arising following the high-scoring game indicate reports of impersonation by the team from Tamale.
The Disciplinary Committee charged RTU with intentionally deceiving match officials during the game by fielding unregistered players to “impersonate officially registered players of their club.”
The charge has been followed by another charge against the technical officials of RTU for knowingly aiding in the impersonation.
Zakaria Safianu, the CEO of the club, along with Abdul-Samed Iddrisu (physiotherapist), Tanko Jentumah (team staff), Abdul-Gafaru Salifu (team staff), Sylvester Yaw Apanka (welfare officer), and Iddi Manzah Alhassan (assistant coach), are the officials charged.
“It is alleged that the aforementioned officials facilitated Real Tamale United in deceiving match officials during the said game by using unregistered players to impersonate officially registered players of their club, which constitutes misconduct that brings the game into disrepute,” the charge read.
The club and individuals charged have until “Friday, June 14, 2024” to respond to the charges.
