The defending champions of the Ghana Premier League, Medeama SC, secured a 2-0 win over Accra Hearts of Oak in spectacular fashion at Akoon Park.
Hearts of Oak kicked off the matchday 25 midweek encounter with relentless attacking plays in the first half, as their hosts could only muster one shot on target.
The Phobians were left to rue their missed chances as the Yellow and Mauves began to stamp their authority in the game through Kobbina Amoah’s thunderbolt freekick to give his side the lead in the 65th minute.
Shortly before the end of regulation time, Godfrend Abban extended the lead held by the holders with an incredible long-range stroke.
This is Aboubakar Outtara’s third defeat in a row, certainly a worrying sign for the Phobian faithful.
Abdul Rahim Bashiru, assistant coach of the Accra-based club, claimed the referee was intimidated by the home side, which affected the outcome of the game.
Medeama are now 5th in the Ghana Premier League standings, while their opponents drop to 11th.
