Hearts of Oak dramatically defeated Bechem United 2-3 to guarantee their place in the 2024–25 Ghana Premier League and send Accra Great Olympics to the lower divisions.
The Phobians, who placed 15th in the league, had to win all three points, or the unimaginable would have occurred.
Hearts’ disastrous start to the crucial match began when Emmanuel Owusu gave the home team the lead in the 29th minute. However, Kofi Agbesimah’s deflected goal shortly after leveled the score.
Coach Ouattara’s team battled back into the game with a goal from Kelvin Osei Assibey six minutes after the Hunters took the lead again through Bismark Edjeodji two minutes before the half-hour mark.
Things were dire for Hearts after Great Olympics was awarded a victory since Real Tamale United had not honored their match, but Yaw Amankwah Baafi scored the winning goal.
Hearts of Oak will need to review their performance from this season in order to make improvements for the following one.
