The Executive President of the Ghana Baptist Convention, Rev. Nii Narh Thompson, has urged for a violence-free by-election in Akwatia.
There is a tense mood in Akwatia as hundreds of security personnel were deployed to maintain law and order during the by-election set to come off on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
While addressing the congregation at the 62nd Annual Session in Ejura in the Ashanti Region, Rev. Thompson advised
“The election should be a departure from the usual violence that characterised previous by-elections held in the country,” Rev. Thompson said.
The by-election will be a close contention between the New Patriotic Party’s Solomon Asumadu and the National Democratic Congress’ lawyer Bernard Bediako.
