‎We lack funds to market films— Kofi Adjorlolo

Date:

Renowned veteran actor Kofi Adjorlolo has lamented that the lack of funds to promote and market Ghanaian movies is crippling the industry.‎

According to him, the movie industry has not collapsed, but the necessary resources to fund its marketing is making it limp.

Speaking in a recent podcast, Adjorlolo dismissed the claims that the movie industry has collapsed.

“Ghana movie is not down; actors are acting daily, producers are producing daily, and work is ongoing daily. Rather, it is the promotion and marketing that are lacking, and we’ve got to fix that area,” he said.

In order forthe industry to compete effectively with its Nigerian counterparts, Adjorlolo underscored the need for investment.

He also argued that the Ghallywood industry developed and honed many talents who became stars, compelling the Nigerian industry to feature some of those stars in their movies in a bid to break boundaries and make money.

“Though the Ghana movie industry may be having its own problems, it does not mean Nigerians made us. Ghana Films made Ghanaian actors. The Ghana movie industry and the movies we produced made us popular before Nigerian producers noticed and called us,” Adjorlolo added.
