In recent weeks, Ghana’s focus has been on the general elections and the inauguration of new political leaders. However, the disgraceful conduct of referee Maxwell Hanson in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) has continued to make headlines.
Sammy Anim Addo, in his ongoing criticism of Ghana Football Association (GFA), has repeatedly highlighted Hanson’s involvement in questionable officiating practices. Months ago, he raised alarms about Hanson being used for “dirty” jobs in the league, but his concerns were dismissed by the GFA.
Accra Lions’ recent complaints about Hanson’s officiating have further spotlighted the issue. Addo has been calling for the removal of referees like Hanson, accusing them of undermining the integrity and competitiveness of the league.
Despite facing threats that the GFA might attempt to sabotage his club, Young Apostles, Addo remains resolute in his crusade. He warns that the current situation cannot last forever.
