GERMAN DISASTER: Germany U-20 Defeats Black Satellites 5-0 in Friendly Ahead of WAFU Championship

Date:

German-born Ilyas Ansah, of Ghanaian descent and currently playing for Bundesliga II club Paderborn 07, made a significant impact in an international friendly match against Ghana’s U-20 team.

He opened the scoring just two minutes into the game and went on to net a brace, showcasing his talent and agility on the field.

Germany quickly extended their lead in the first half, with Nelson Weiper from Mainz 05 and Tom Bischof of TSG Hoffenheim contributing goals to bring the score to 4-0 by halftime. Mert Kömür sealed the impressive 5-0 victory with a fifth goal in the final 11 minutes of play.

This match served as a crucial warm-up for Ghana’s U-20 coach, Desmond Offei, and his team as they prepare for the upcoming 2024 WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship.

The Black Satellites have been placed in Group A, where they will compete against hosts Togo, Niger, and Benin. Ghana will begin their tournament campaign on Thursday, October 17, 2024, facing off against the Young Squirrels of Benin.
