The Finance Minister of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has reiterated the new administration’s plans to establish the GoldBod.
This forms a part of a well-calculated plan to formalise the gold sector of Ghana. The minister, soon after assuming office in January 2025, inaugurated a technical committee to see to the board’s establishment.
The minister, in the reading of the 2025 budget statement, insisted the GoldBod would support the stability of the cedi.
“The establishment of the GoldBod to enhance the generation and accumulation forex to support the stability of the cedi,” he said before the August House.
Dr. Forson is confident the GoldBod, which would act as a specialised agency, would ensure the increase of valuation in gold production and serve as the sole buyer from legal small-scale miners.
