Fight Night 20: Shocking end to grand finale, Neequaye clinches first title

Date:

The highly anticipated fight between Inusah Kanla of the Ghana Armed Forces and George Akoto of the Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation, which was meant to determine which gym would win season two of the Ghana Professional Boxing League, ended in a disappointing way. The fight had the potential to be a historic evening of boxing in Ghana.

The two extremely skilled boxers, Kanla and Akoto, took their stances and unleashed a barrage of blows on one another.

During the second round, Akoto used a series of fast combos to unsettle Inusah, while their respective fans cheered and sang for them from the stands.

Surprised with his opponent’s speed, Inusah went into a defensive fighting stance. Unfortunately, the fight ended abruptly when some rowdy fans started making noise in the arena.

One of the night’s highlights saw Accra Academy Senior High School student Cann Neequaye, who turned pro in 2023, defeating Isaac Aryeetey over six rounds to win his first titles—the national super bantamweight championship and the L.B.O.
