Don’t Claim Ownership to Deceased Estates Without Court Approval— Lawyer Oduro

Date:

Tax and finance expert lawyer Eric Oduro has said no family head can disburse a deceased relative’s properties without the application of Letters of Administration (LA).

Speaking on Max FM’s Max Morning Dew, Lawyer Eric Oduro, on Monday, February 2, 2026, revealed that only an appointed family head can access a deceased relative’s properties.

This, according to lawyer Oduro, can be done through the application of the LA in court under the PNDC law constituted in 1992, which authorizes a family head to administer properties of relatives who died intestate.

The lawyer further stressed that it is unlawful to claim ownership of properties of the deceased who left behind a will bequeathing them to others.

He noted that one may be persecuted under the adequate provisions should an unlawful attempt be made by claiming ownership to assets not belonging to them.
