A few electoral areas in the Ashanti and Eastern regions have had the ongoing district level elections postponed because of technical difficulties.
The EC announced this move in a statement on December 19, 2023, the day the elections were originally scheduled, citing unanticipated technical difficulties.
The new date of the elections in those areas is Thursday, December 21, 2023.
The explanation provided by Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, Director of Electoral Services at the EC, is that their contractors’ printing issues were the cause.
He stated that although a large number of ballots had been sent to the polling places, the elections in those areas will now take place on Thursday, December 21, because of the lateness of the process.
